Sometimes When One Door Opens A Window Closes

Source: Bertram

True to current industry trends, we hear of one step forward only to hear of another backwards.  Late last week Bertram Yachts announced plans to move locations from Miami to Merritt Island Florida. With the addition of Bertram, the Central Florida coast is developing a solid marine industry.  The new location promises expansion and the addition of possibly 90+ jobs to the area.  Bertram Yachts should be a welcome addition to the Space Coast as many skilled employees in the area have seen layoffs with the closure of the space program.

There was also news released today of a Brunswick layoff at the Sea Ray plant across the street from the new Bertram location.  The Sea Ray plant laid off 65 workers today in an effort to “better match demand in various industry segments,” said Brunswick’s Kubera.  If you’re curious about the Bertram openings, follow the link for the application form.
