It was lust at first sight, the perfect Valentines Day encounter. As I walked up to the Apisa 48 LS, the open engine bay doors revealed just how seductive of boat she was. Long, slender lines, soft cushioning in all the right places, and of course those two 550HP Cummins 6.7L QSB engines that would please any power-loving boatie.

This next statement may come as sacrilege to some of you go-fast purists, but one of the best features of this boat was how quiet the engines run. Before you tune me out and click over to your favorite offshore site, hear me out. You are going to want the engines and exhaust to run quiet so you can hear the symphonic whistle of those turbos. Hammer the throttle and you are not only rewarded by massive amount of torque, acceleration, and a rooster tail four boat lengths long; but your ears are rewarded with a turbine-like whine letting you know it’s time to hold on tighter. The other big benefit the diesels offer is fuel efficiency. Not only is the diesel engine's cycle more efficient than it's gasoline cousin; at cruise speeds, the motors turns at almost half the RPM giving you more miles per gallon.
So what are you waiting for, schedule a test ride already.
The video below is of our test ride at the Miami Boat Show, listen to the turbos as the driver accelerates through the turn.
