First Look: The Quadrofoil – Pure Carbon Kevlar Awesomeness

What’s cooler than being cool?  If you answered “ice cold” you are correct.  But, if you answered the recently debuted Quadrofoil you are more correct.  Finally someone had the brilliance to combine clean electric power with something more efficient than a traditional boat hull design (at speeds above 7pmh).  Not only does the hydrofoil design help to optimize efficiency, it helps to optimize the ride quality as well.

With a top speed of 25mph and a max range of 62 miles, this water scooter screams ..... rent me.  Queue the sounds of disappointment.  Let’s face it, those numbers don’t scream performance.  With a form as modern and appealing as the Quadrofoil seems to fall a little short.  The manufacturer does say the electric locomotion can be exchanged for alternatives (bring on the petrol).  No offence electricity, but you are still the underdog of propulsion.  For what it’s worth, I do believe the hydrofoil with the electric motor hints at the future of boating with alternative energy sources.

Click past the jump for additional photos of the water scooter.  There is also a video of the Quadrofoil at this year’s Internautica Boat Show in Slovenia (the video is not in English).
