There are plenty of times in life when you just have to “man (or woman) up” to get the job done; when push comes to shove humans are capable of some pretty complex tasks. But technology is steadily taking some tasks we humans have grown adept at and doing them better. Take the manual transmission for example. Once a rite of passage for many a young driver, you’d be hard pressed to find a new driver that would even consider taking their exam in anything but an automatic. Even driving purists and enthusiasts are migrating to automatic transmissions as dual clutch gearboxes can shift faster than even the fastest professional drivers.
Until recently, tight quarter maneuvering of a dual engine boat was a skill that had to be learned and honed with lots of time and practice; a rite of passage, if you will. With the advent of pod drives and bow thrusters that progression became much easier, but pods and bow thrusters don’t install well on smaller vessels. Thankfully the engineers at Teleflex Marine have an answer to that, the Optimus 360 Joystick Control System. The system independently controls each outboard to help you dock that machine “Like a Boss!” Heck, with maneuverability like this you have a new excuse to upgrade from that dingy.
Check out a video of the system in action after the jump. You can learn more and find a local dealer at this link.
"Like a Boss!" LOL - It's just too easy anymore - what's wrong with a little "rite of passage"? That has kept boats mostly a mans domain for years. BTW I love that Dusky 33 in the video! I could see us out fishing that.
