News: Industry Bright Spots

Despite all the recent gloom and doom of Chapter 11 filings, there are some bright spots to report that should give hope for a shifting economy.  Recently, two foreign companies decided to open up shop right here in the U.S.  A longstanding British composites manufacturer, Belzona, began a new boatbuilding operation in Miami Lakes, FL called Belzona Marine.  Belzona began working on two 32 foot models late in 2011.  They hope to exhibit both a center console and a walkaround later at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.  Belzona plans to officially announce its operation later this month.
Also, a couple weeks ago, Gunboat announced plans to manufacture their 55 Series catamarans in the old Buddy Davis yard in Wanchese, N.C.  Gunboat’s sister company, Pure Yachting, will also manufacture a line of RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) at the same facility as well.  Gunboat has begun moving plugs to begin building the big cats by June this year for a backlog of orders and for the Miami International Boat Show in 2013.

  1. This post seems to get a great deal of visitors. How do you advertise it? It gives a nice individual spin on things. I guess having something real or substantial to post about is the most important thing.
