Boatieblog is Going to the Miami Boat Show

Ah, February, that special time of year when we celebrate the Super Bowl and it’s commercials, Black History, old president’s birthdays, Valentines Day, and of course The Miami Boat Show!

Get your boat shoes ready, Boatieblog is going to the Miami Boat Show this week.  Whether you’re stuck in the blizzard stricken north or too busy nursing a mai tai on a beach in Maui, you can count on us to bring you live coverage from the Miami boat show.

The show spans three locations including the Miami Beach convention center, and two local marinas.  There will be more than 3,000 boats on display and 2,000 exhibitors from all over the world.  But the boat show is about more than just boats and the latest products, there are plenty of fun activities and attractions to keep the whole family busy.  If you are planning on going to this years show, here are some of the highlights at a glance.
  • Bear Grylls, from Discovery Channel’s Man vs Wild, will be making a live apprearance on Thursday Feb. 14 from 10am to 11am.
  • Lots of DIY boat repair and maintenance seminars (Free)
  • Discover Boating is providing hands on clinics for new and seasoned boaties alike.  You must pre-register. ($15 - $125 per person)
  • Big Game Room - features a Bar (for boat drinks), educational seminars, bait rigging stations, all the latest fishing gear, and lots of give-aways!
  • Meet the stars of History/A&E Channel’s Shark Wranglers Thurs. Feb. 14th at 4:15pm and Sat. Feb 16th at 5pm.
  • Welcome to the Water will have hand-on demos including a “Power Boat Docking Challenge” and a boat simulator
  • Meet Dora the Explorer on Saturday February 16th from Noon—3pm. Be sure to bring your camera!
The show starts Thursday, February 14th and runs through Monday, February 18th.  With the exception of Thursday, tickets are $20 for adults and kids under 15 are free.  Thursday is “Premier Day” and will cost you $35 to get in the doors.  There are discounts for multi-day passes and large groups.  You can get more info here at the official website.
